What is Therapeutic Coaching Psychology?

Hi, I'm Iza.

In each session, my goal is to create a nurturing space where clients can gain profound self-understanding and foster a deeper connection with themselves—embracing all facets of who they are, including their body. Drawing inspiration from my personal heroes of psychology like Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Carl Rogers, and Peter Levine, I support clients in reintegrating wounded aspects of themselves, facilitating movement past stuck points, processing their experiences, and forming new neural pathways through transformative embodied experiences. My aim is to empower clients to build a life that reflects the effort they invest in their personal growth.

I work remotely via Zoom. I also offer face-to-face sessions in Shanghai in Puxi.

Where are the session calls hosted?

The calls will be hosted on Zoom. No subscription to Zoom is required on your part – just click the link in the confirmation email you will receive after scheduling your calls. A stable wifi/internet connection is needed.

The cost:

The cost per 50 to 60-minute in-person individual session is 800 RMB (110 USD) | 750 RMB online

The cost per 70 to 90-minute in-person couples session is 1200 RMB (160 USD) | 1000 RMB online

A sliding scale is available for online sessions only.

Therapeutic coaching (as understood within the BACP – British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy – context) is an integrative approach that blends psychotherapeutic insight with goal-oriented coaching techniques. It's often used to help individuals make meaningful changes in their lives while also working through deeper emotional blocks or patterns

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO WORK WITH ME?

My aim is to assist people in fulfilling their potential and feeling empowered in their personal and working environments. My services are personalized to meet everyone's unique needs. With my background in psychology, coaching, counseling, and somatic training, I integrate a holistic approach that addresses emotional, mental, psychological, and spiritual aspects of well-being.

My approach: My work is rooted in an understanding of the nervous system and is informed by mindfulness, neuroscience, polyvagal, and attachment theory.  The main idea is that knowing and accessing your resources soothes your nervous system, and a well-regulated nervous system leads to better outcomes in all areas.    

Through our work together, you will:

  • Develop a deeper self-awareness of your core needs and values.

  • Explore techniques to enhance your mind-body connection, facilitating the release of stress, trauma, and tension stored in your body.

  • Improve your psychological well-being by mastering effective communication of your needs, preferences, and boundaries.

  • Learn strategies to manage stress, navigate challenges and transitions, and make empowered choices in both personal and professional spheres.

With your consent, I may integrate somatic interventions and psychoeducation into our sessions as needed.

Therapy focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions (this is not what this service is about); Therapeutic Coaching is a gentle but empowering approach that combines the depth of therapy with the forward focus of coaching.

While traditional coaching is often about setting goals and taking action, therapeutic coaching also creates space to explore the emotional or psychological patterns that might be holding you back—like self-doubt, past wounds, or limiting beliefs.

It’s not therapy in the traditional sense, but it is therapy-informed. I draw from counseling approaches—like person-centred, psychodynamic, or somatic work—while also supporting you to move toward the life, relationships, or changes you truly desire.

So if you’re in a place where you want to make a shift, but also feel like something deeper needs to be seen, understood, or healed first—therapeutic coaching can be a beautiful bridge.
